Policies for all classes

Questions, concerns, issues – The lead instructor at any site or skills testing session shall be responsible for responding to student concerns or issues.

The Training Center Director is last and final point of escalation for issue resolution.

Policies for in-person instructor led classes

Registration – Registration for classes in the future may be completed online using the Tri-State First Aid & CPR Training website (https://tristatefirstaid.com) or over the phone. When registering, payment is required to guarantee a seat in the class. Without payment, a seat is not guaranteed. Students may also walk in on the day of a class and participate in a class if seats are available. Printed coupons and coupon codes are accepted for in-person classes only with pre-registration and payment online using the Tri-State First Aid & CPR Training website. Coupons and coupon codes cannot be applied retroactively to a class registration once paid for.

Attendance/Tardiness – Class start times are published on the Tri-State First Aid & CPR Training website at https://tristatefrstaid.com. Students should be in attendance at the start time of class and after returning from breaks. Students who miss more than 15 minutes of instructional content in any one class will not meet requirements to successfully complete the class. Students may make up class material or may be asked to leave at the discretion of the lead instructor.

Students who fail to show up for a scheduled class are not eligible to receive a refund of their course fees. A student who does not show up for a scheduled class may be granted credit for a future class of the same type upon the sole discretion of the lead instructor/training center director.

Student Attire – Classes are intended for professionals or those seeking to meet professional licensing/compliance requirements. Student attire should be consistent with professional conduct and not too tight, too revealing, or too informal. Classes require students to kneel on the floor, bend over and move to demonstrate emergency care skills. Attire which restricts movement or prevents students from successfully demonstrating skills should be avoided. The lead instructor may ask students to remove or replace inappropriate or offensive attire.

Student Behavior – Classes are conducted for the benefit of the students. Behavior that interrupts instruction or is inconsistent with professional conduct will be addressed by the lead instructor. Students who do not correct disruptive or unprofessional conduct may be asked to leave.

Students who are asked to leave forfeit their enrollment fees and are not eligible for a refund.

Classes are infrequently cancelled by Tri-State First Aid & CPR Training. A class may be cancelled by Tri-State First Aid & CPR Training for the following reasons:

  • Instructor illness
  • Disaster or other emergency
  • Low enrollment (e.g., only 1 student enrolls in a class with a minimum of 6 required)

Tri-State First Aid & CPR Training works with several instructors and will attempt to schedule an alternate instructor when the primary instructor is unavailable. In the event of an instructor illness, disaster or other emergency the student may elect to receive a refund or may receive credit for a future class of the same type.

A class with a minimum enrollment requirement will be published ahead of time on the Tri-State First Aid & CPR Training website (https://tristatefirstaid.com). In the event a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, the student will receive a refund.

Student Cancellations – Students who wish to cancel enrollment for instructor led classes after registering and paying for the class may do so by using the “Contact Us” section of the website at least 24-hours ahead of the class. Students who cancel will receive a refund of their enrollment fees minus a ten-dollar processing fee. Students who register for the wrong class or who accidentally register multiple times for a class may receive credit for another class minus a ten-dollar processing fee or receive a refund of their enrollment fees minus a ten-dollar processing fee.

Knowledge and Skills Testing – Students are required to demonstrate understanding of the core concepts in a class as well as competency on required first aid/CPR skills. Demonstrating skills requires physical effort and the ability to move without assistance to perform the skills. Skills must meet minimum requirements established by ASHI and must also demonstrate your ability to confidently administer emergency care. Students who have difficulty with the skills testing will receive coaching and additional practice to assist with successful completion of testing. After 2 attempts if a student is unable to successfully complete testing no certification will be issued and the student will be referred to the Training Center Director for resolution.

Policies for online/blended classes

Registration – Registration for online/blended classes may be completed online using the Tri-State First Aid & CPR Training website or over the phone. Printed coupons and coupon codes are not accepted for online/blended classes. An online or blended class once purchased from Tri-State First Aid & CPR Training is non-refundable due to costs incurred to provide the online content.

Schedule – There is no required schedule to complete an online or blended class. The online portion of a class can be completed at any time of day or night using the learning management system, however students should complete their purchased online or blended classes within two months from time of purchase. After two months the Training Center Director will attempt to contact the student to resolve any issues and may cancel the blended/online enrollment without a refund.

Skills sessions – Scheduling of face-to-face skills sessions to complete a blended course will be done by the Training Center Director. Students who show complete in the learning management system will be contacted to schedule their skills session. It takes approximately 24 hours, following the completion of the online portion of a blended class in the learning management system, for the training center director to receive notification of a course completion. If you require a response faster than 24 hours after completing the online portion of a blended class, please contact the Training Center Director using the “Contact Us” section of the website.

Students who fail to show up for a scheduled skill session may reschedule the student for a future skill session if one is available. Multiple no shows may result in cancellation of the students class registration without a refund at the sole discretion of the Training Center Director.

Policies for books and other items available for purchase

Generally books are not required to attend a class. Wilderness First Aid and Wilderness First Responder classes do require the purchase of a book.

Books and other items purchased from the Tri-State First Aid & CPR Training website are not refundable once they are mailed or delivered to the purchaser.
